Kumari Ella Falls

Kumari Ella is located in Puwakpitiya, Avissawella; just 45 minutes drive from Ahas Gawwa. This little cascade has a deep plunge pool at its base that is extremely dangerous to swim. Kumari Ella gains its name from “Kumari”, the daughter of King Rajasinghe 1 of Sitawaka, who died by drowning there.

Raigam Tea Factory

Raigam Tea Factory, situated in Sri Lanka, is a distinguished lowland tea processing facility with a history dating back to the 1890s. The factory stands out among the 835 tea manufacturers in the country and is currently managed by Pussellawa Plantations of Lankem. A demonstrator will guide you through the entire manufacturing process and provide the opportunity to taste the best-quality tea produced for exports. Most importantly, the calm surroundings of the estate make it a lovely place to discover the secrets of tea-making in a peaceful setting.

Labugama – Kalatuwawa Forest Reserve

Kalatuwawa Reservoir is a mesmerizing water body crafted to quench the thirst of Colombo city and its suburbs. Located just 12 km away from Ahas Gawwa, it presents a captivating blend of history and nature, inviting you on a fascinating journey. In 1955, the Colombo Municipal Council diverted a sub-tributary of the Kelani River to create this reservoir, now accessible via Hanwella-Labugama Road. 

This vast landscape covers 454 acres at full capacity, holding an impressive 3900 million gallons of water. The Kalatuwawa Ela, a gentle stream, gracefully feeds this oasis, creating a serene atmosphere. Adding a touch of grandeur to its beauty, the reservoir’s weir is a majestic structure standing 30 meters tall and stretching 160 meters long. Dive into its depths, reaching a maximum of 20 meters. 

Maintained under the watchful care of the Colombo Municipal Council, Kalatuwawa Reservoir isn’t merely a water place; it’s a testament to the harmony between nature and human intervention, creating a magical spot waiting for you to explore.
